Visual Identity System
Adobe Illustrator
April 2023
I created a visual identity system for a randomly selected festival and designed it for a kids' book festival. My primary goal was to create branding that would spark excitement and make reading an enjoyable experience for young children. To achieve this, I focused on incorporating bright, playful colors that instantly caught their attention. I drew inspiration from popular children's TV shows, using familiar visuals that kids could easily connect with. This approach aimed to make the festival feel approachable, engaging, and fun, encouraging young attendees to explore the world of books.
To strengthen this connection further, I created three distinct logos, each inspired by the color palettes of well-loved TV shows. One logo featured Mickey Mouse's iconic red and yellow. Another drew from the soft blues of Blue's Clues, while the third captured the vibrant tones of Bubble Guppies. These designs helped establish a playful and imaginative identity for the festival, blending nostalgia and familiarity with creativity to appeal to children and their families.
The logo was designed to evoke a sense of fun and curiosity, creating a lively and approachable identity. Knowing that children are drawn to visuals that resemble cartoons, I incorporated playful elements. To bring this idea to life, I added googly eyes to the "o's" in the word "book," giving the logo an animated personality. I rendered the entire logo in 3D to make it feel even more animated and dynamic. I drew on my memories of attending book festivals in elementary school, recalling the kinds of banners, posters, and interactive elements that caught my attention when I was a kid. These nostalgic references helped me design all the festival’s assets.
